When I first started off listening to Mariah Carey I noticed how her voice has changed through the years. From being a thick and rounded tone to a very thin sounding one. I thought it was a sad thing to lose your original and powerful tone like that. But over time as I listened to her songs, I also realized that there is a part of her voice that she hasn't lost. Something that she has and makes her voice Mariah Carey's voice. Something that when you hear it, you'd know it's her and only she could do that. Likewise today I was thinking of how things change in life, how we start of usually, sometimes, with lots of hope and enthusiasm and excitement but over time transform into something else. At the start, I wanted to guard from change very carefully and would panic from even the slightest event or action that might lead to change. I struggled and strived and argued, until finally I let go. I started adopting a different approach and a different attitude. I relented resisting and started embracing. Change doesn't have to be a bad thing perhaps. Mariah's Daydream voice was heavenly but her Emancipation voice was glorious. For each era of her music, she gave us a unique sound that gave it worth and dignity of its own. In the same way there will be beauty in whatever stage of life we'll enter. Our past days were wonderful, but we are not to look at them to wish to return. That was then and this is the now which we must create worth and dignity of, looking forward to our tomorrow.
